We’ve Saved You a Seat
(and a Few Favorite Recipes, Too)
recipes
The next best thing after whisking up a new cake has to be seeing the reaction of a loved one or client, and hopefully getting to taste a slice too. Our grandmother taught us to bake for the purpose of sharing. Lexie, whose middle name is grandma’s namesake, took that to heart. Now, we’re sharing the classes we wish we had when starting a cake shop business. Bite-sized, easy to follow, and sprinkled with nostalgia.

the tastemaker
Lexie
award-winning pastry chef
A sought-after cake artist with work craved (and praised) by luxury wedding couples and event planners in Southwest Florida, Lexie graduated from the Secchia Institute of Culinary Education at the top of her class. She brings a splash of color into every room she enters.
Everything shifted for Lexie when she chose to go beyond basic birthday cakes and into high-end, custom cakes. Since then, she’s dramatically changed her business’s bottom line and has started teaching local classes to help other artists do the same with their skills.

Katie
multi-business founder
It was fitting that, as Lexie’s older sister, Katie came up with the idea for Sweet Sugar School. They’re total opposites in a lot of ways, but they both share a passion for challenging industry standards. Katie also works in the wedding world; she founded a luxury wedding agency and runs a separate admin support company for wedding pros.
Katie’s business prowess stems from nearly a decade of hands-on business experience, and also from professional education. She holds a bachelor’s degree, an MBA, and a master’s in education.
